Board to collect parking fee

The Travancore Devaswom Board has decided to directly collect parking fee from vehicles of Sabarimala pilgrims at Chalakkayam, Elavunkal and Plappally.


Earlier, the parking fee collection was given to contractors. But the Board had decided to cancel the agreements with the contractors after a case was filed with the high court.


Though the Board called a re-tender, no one came to take over the contract at Pampa, Hilltop, Chakkupalam and Triveni.


This has led to the Board’s decision to collect the fee directly from the vehicles.
The high court had also ordered the police to give protection to the Board for collecting the fee.
